In October 2014 Hegewald & Peschke MPT GmbH has delivered a Universal Testing Machine Inspekt 600kN and an Inspekt Table 250kN to HOBAS Co. in Poland.
The 6 metre high Universal Testing Machine Inspekt 600kN is used to test a new type of glass fibre-reinforced plastic pipe installed without trench excavation work. The first installed pipe will therefore be fitted with a drilling head for this purpose. The subsequent pipe segments each with a length from 2.5 to 6 m are pressed in hydraulically. The excavation material generated is transported off during the inside of the pipe. The pipe segments are connected with sleeves allowing an angel deviation of up to 3° per sleeve. This again makes installation of the pipes around curves possible.
The type of pipe installation represents high requirements on the material properties of the pipes. The Universal Testing Machine is therefore used to test pipe strips approx. 300 mm wide and with a wall thickness of 150 mm and a diameter of up to 4200 mm in two steps (approx. 2 % and 5 %) for their elasticity.
The Universal Testing Machine Inspekt Table 250kN, also supplied, tests small strip sections from the pipe via tensile testing.
The internationally active HOBAS Company produces and delivers pipe systems from glass fibre-reinforced plastic already for over 50 years. They are used, for example, as drinking water lines, waste water lines, water supply lines, irrigation or drainage systems.
