Testing system for hot tensile tests on steel

Hegewald & Peschke equip Dillinger France with high temperature testing system

Universal testing machine inspekt 250 kN with high temprature furnaces and changing system

DILLINGER is a globally active specialist and supplier of structural steel and pipe plates made of steel, which customers use to realize major projects, for example in bridge building, for wind and tidal power, boiler construction, construction machinery, mining, pipelines and many other fields of application. These steel plates must meet high requirements. Under the DILLINGER brand, the German and French sites offer their products together on the market.

Hegewald & Peschke have already delivered a fully automated testing system to the French site in Dunkirk in 2017. This system is the heart of a 1.2 MN universal testing machine with optical strain measurement. Now another testing system for testing these special steels has been successfully delivered.

The inspekt 250 kN is extended and has a test chamber height of 1680 mm. Hot tensile tests on flat and threaded specimens in accordance with DIN 50125 to ISO 6892-2 are possible with two high temperature furnaces from 100 to 900° C. At these temperatures the strain is determined with a tactile high-temperature extensometer. Hegewald & Peschke's hydraulic grips, a long-travel extensometer and connecting specimen grips with shoulder inserts are used for tensile tests according to ISO 6892-1, NF EN 10164 and ASTM A770 at room temperature. In addition, the supplied accessories allow tensile tests on welded specimens and compression tests. The interchangeable fixture with handling device allows easy operation and configuration of the test set-up and consequently a faster test run. While one test is running, the next specimen is already warmed up. When the first test is finished, the second test can be started immediately.

Another special feature is the distinctive data import and export using a data matrix scanner, which is connected to the company's own data management system. When the specimen is scanned, the LabMaster testing software receives the information about the specimen, test standard and procedure, tolerances, etc. At the end of the test, a tolerance check is carried out automatically. The test results are then validated by the operator and released for export.
