Calibration machine for measuring range up to 50 kN

Force sensors and load cells are used in many areas of application. For example, they contribute to the safety of machinery and equipment or are used for experiments to determine tensile and compressive forces.

The task of the State Office for Metrology and Verification Leipzig is to ensure correct measurements for all consumers and to provide a level playing field within the Saxon economy. The State Office has had a Hegewald & Peschke calibration machine with a maximum test force of 600kN since 2006. The new force reference standard machine for the measuring range up to 50 kN is intended to improve handling during calibrations, shorten throughput times, reduce measurement uncertainties and provide improved software support.

The 4-column design of the new calibration machine results in a high rigidity of the load frame and a resulting higher measuring accuracy.

Functionality of the calibration machine for reference transducers

The machine is prepared for use with three different reference load sensors (2.5kN / 10kN / 50kN). Thus, three different load ranges can be tested.

To achieve accuracy class 00 or 05 according to DIN EN ISO 376, a so-called reverse hanger is used. It ensures that the reference load cell is only used in one load direction. Furthermore, the reference load cells are used with two measuring bridges. One measuring bridge is used as a reference for calibration, the second for machine control. The tests are carried out using LabMaster and the calibration module programmed specifically for these applications. This allows the partially automated test procedure, manual fine corrections and can be used to evaluate the calibration. Due to the SQL database structure, all tests are stored securely and sustainably.
