This causes bending forces to act on the compression surfaces and the load cell, which can damage them. The testing machine has special devices to prevent this. To prevent lateral forces from being transferred to the pressure plate or the load cell, the upper pressure plate of the testing machine can be tilted. In addition, an electrical switch-off device consisting of 4 limit switches monitors the angle of inclination. As soon as the inclination exceeds a critical value, the test is stopped.
