Calmar testing systems for component testing

The Calmar testing technology for component testing and furniture testing features pneumatic and electric test axes that can be arranged in a test field with a high degree of freedom.

This allows a wide range of destructive and non-destructive testing methods to be carried out, including:

  • Dynamic continuous load tests
  • Aging tests
  • Fatigue tests
  • Operational stability tests
  • Functional tests
  • Wear tests

In addition to flexibly configurable, modular test fields, Hegewald & Peschke also develops specialized individual test benches. These are designed for specific testing tasks and enable high test volumes with minimal setup times and maximum ease of use.

Modular system

The flexible arrangement of the test axes gives the component testing technology its name. Like an octopus, Calmar has many flexible arms. This allows a wide variety of loads, load speeds, and load directions to be tested on furniture and components. This enables a realistic simulation of the stresses that the product must withstand during its intended use.

Hegewald & Peschke has developed a modular principle for test fields and test benches for furniture and component testing, which can be assembled in 4 simple steps:

  1. Test frame design: different sizes according to customer requirements and standard specifications, roller-guided vertical and horizontal profiles for optimum positioning of the test axes
  2. Number and selection of suitable test axes: pneumatic and electric motor-driven test axes
  3. Selection of suitable control system: Calmar One PLC control system or Calmar Pro.2 central unit with CalMaster test software
  4. Selection of accessories: pressure pieces, seat impactor, drop tester, fixing elements, and much more.

The profile design is conceived in such a way that it guarantees both high rigidity and a certain degree of elasticity. The design of the profiles ensures that they can only bend slightly and, above all, reversibly under the loads to be applied, which ensures accurate, reproducible results even in long-term or high-load tests. The solid 12 mm thick galvanized floor plates with threaded grid allow variable test piece mounting and reduce setup times.

Control concepts of the Calmar series

There are two different control concepts to choose from for operating the furniture and component testing technology:

Calmar Pro.2 - a software-based control concept that enables multiple independent tests and offers virtually unlimited options for creating test templates and storing and logging test results in an audit-proof database.

Calmar One – a PLC-based control concept that is easy and convenient to use and enables fast, uncomplicated processing of the testing task thanks to shortened cycle times.
