Tensile tests on plastics are used to determine key material properties such as tensile strength, yield strength and modulus of elasticity.

The tensile testing machine inspekt duo L 10 kN is also suitable for testing materials such as plastics, which exhibit a large elongation during the test, due to its test chamber height of 1325 mm. A pneumatic specimen grips is used for clamping the tensile specimens. In combination with the control unit, reproducible pneumatic clamping of the specimen with controlled clamping pressure (specimen-specific adjustable) is ensured. One advantage of the parallel clamping device is that this clamping pressure acts reproducibly over the entire tensile test and thus thin materials and foils can also be tested without jaw cracking.

Of particular interest for fiber-reinforced plastics is the so-called holding mode, which reduces parasitic clamping forces to prevent pre-damage of the materials. Specimen depth stops ensure that the tensile specimen is clamped axially and that no transverse forces manipulate the test results.

Testing machine and fixtures can be operated directly at the machine. This makes work easier for the operator, especially when testing large quantities, and optimizes workflows. Alternatively, operation via the LabMaster testing software is possible. Here, for example, the test parameters for different specimen shapes and materials can be entered.

Another component of the testing system for plastic tensile tests is the extensometer for determining elongation at break and elongation in tension on plastics and elastomers with high elongation. This has an inductive fine measuring range for the standard-compliant determination of the modulus of elasticity (according to ISO527) and the elongation at break within a test.

The status of the machine is displayed via LEDs directly on the front of the testing machine. The entire testing system is designed to be safety-compliant in accordance with the Machinery Directive.
