Determination of the Ultimate Tensile Load of the Seat Belt-Pre-Tensioner-Buckle Assembly
Universal testing machine inspekt 100 kN, extended version
Testing the ultimate tensile load of the seat belt, pre-tensioner, and buckle assembly is critical to the safety of vehicle occupants. The test is designed to ensure that the components function reliably in the event of an accident or under heavy loads and effectively protect the occupants.
Testing these components in accordance with relevant standards and regulations, such as ECE-R16, is essential to ensure they function optimally in an emergency.
- Seat Belt:
- The seat belt is tested for mechanical strength and its ability to withstand strong tensile forces without tearing or breaking.
- The ultimate tensile load of the belt is measured to ensure that it can withstand the forces to which it might be subjected during an accident.
- Seat belt pretensioner:
- The seat belt pretensioner is responsible for applying tension to the seat belt to quickly and safely position the occupants correctly.
- Its function is verified through tests that measure the maximum force with which it can tighten the belt, as well as its reliability under various conditions.
- Seat belt buckle:
- The seat belt buckle must ensure that the seat belt remains properly secured while the vehicle is in motion and can only be released under controlled conditions.
- Tests to determine the breaking force of the seat belt buckle ensure that it is strong enough to withstand the tensile forces of the seat belt and to open when necessary, allowing for the rapid release of occupants.
Testing System for Determining the Ultimate Tensile Load of the Seat Belt-Pre-Tensioner-Buckle Combination
The inspekt 100kN universal testing machine determines the ultimate tensile load of the seat belt system with a rated load of up to 100kN. The machine is extended by 500mm and equipped with front and rear safety doors. Additional impact protection cushions the impact of falling metal parts. Data is analyzed using the universal materials testing software LabMaster with the Tensile and Compression Test module for component testing.
