The testing of wood materials is crucial in order to assess their mechanical properties and suitability for various applications. The most important test methods include the bending test, the tensile test and the hardness test. These provide valuable information about the physical properties of wood-based materials and help to ensure their quality and reliability in various applications.
Bending test
The bending test is used to determine the bending strength and bending behaviour of wood-based materials. A wood sample is subjected to a defined bending load until it breaks or deforms. This test helps to assess the load-bearing capacity and flexibility of the material.
Tensile test
The tensile test measures the tensile strength and elongation capacity of wood-based materials. In this test, a wood sample is pulled until it tears. The tensile test is important to determine the material's resistance to tensile forces and to assess its potential for use in structural applications.
Hardness test
The hardness test is used to determine the surface hardness of wood-based materials. This is done by pressing a test piece into the surface of the material and measuring the resistance. The hardness test is crucial for determining the wear resistance and durability of wood surfaces.

Our universal testing machines are equipped with the LabMaster testing software, which enables user-friendly setup and execution of test sequences for customised tests. It guarantees fast and reliable determination of results and offers a high degree of flexibility when integrating external measuring devices. Data import and export for customised software such as QDAS or SAP is also possible.
The CalMaster testing software is used for the Calmar pro furniture and component testing technology series. It offers standard-based test templates stored in the system, which allow the tests to be parameterised with little configuration effort. All required parameters are preset: Once the template has been loaded, testing can begin immediately. Of course, it is also possible to define individual, application-specific single-axis and multi-axis test sequences.
