Testing technology for textiles and leather

Hegewald & Peschke Meß- und Prüftechnik GmbH offers a wide range of testing technologies for the mechanical characterization of textile materials and leather. Universal testing machines and specialized test systems are available for quality assurance, development, and standard testing. These enable precise and reproducible measurements—from the fiber to the finished component.

Testing machines for textiles

Hegewald & Peschke offers comprehensive testing solutions for textile materials such as fabrics, nonwovens, yarns, belts, foams, and technical textiles:

Universal testing machines

For example, the inspekt solo 2.5 kN universal testing machine with application-specific accessories, e.g.:

  • Vice grips for tensile tests on textiles to determine tensile strength (DIN EN ISO 13934-1) and tear resistance (DIN EN ISO 9073-4)
  • Pneumatic grips for tensile tests on glass fabrics to determine breaking force and elongation (ISO 4606), tensile tests on composites to determine tensile force (e.g. DIN EN ISO 527-1)
  • Hydraulic grips for tensile tests on composites (e.g., DIN EN ISO 527-1), films, or geogrids (e.g., DIN EN ISO 10319)
  • Thread and rope clamps for testing threads, yarns, or twines (e.g., sewing thread according to DIN EN ISO 2062)
  • Curved specimen holders for windable specimens such as wires, ropes, or yarns (e.g., sewing thread according to DIN EN ISO 2062, aramid yarns according to DIN EN 12562), also with force reduction function
  • Peel devices with variable pull-off angles (45°, 90°, 180°) for adhesive bonds on fabrics (e.g., DIN EN 28510-1)
  • Coefficient of friction testing systems for determining peel and adhesive strengths (DIN 53 375 / ASTM D1894)
  • Needle pull-out test devices according to DIN 54301 for nonwovens and nonwoven fabrics
  • Compression and burst test devices, e.g., for protective gloves according to EN 863 / EN 388 / EN 374-4
  • Torsion modules for torsion tests on textile tapes or belts
  • Rope grips for tensile tests on belts and belt connections (DIN EN 1492)
  • Stamp indentation testers for determining the indentation resistance of geotextiles (EN ISO 12236)
  • Bending devices for 3-point bending tests on fiber-plastic composites (DIN EN ISO 178)

Special testing machines

  • Shear frame testing systems for examining the deformability of semi-finished textile products or organic sheets depending on the type of weave (shear force-shear angle diagrams)
  • Testing machines for foams for determining hardness and deformation properties in accordance with DIN 53579, ASTM D3574-B1, and EN ISO 3386-1
  • Rotational impact tester for highly dynamic tensile tests with a long linear test path for testing of fibre composites and technical textiles.

Testing machines for leather

Hegewald & Peschke also offers high-performance testing solutions for leather and leather-like materials:

  • Air-conditioned shrinkage device:
    • Analysis of mechanical changes (e.g., change in length, force absorption) under cyclic temperature and humidity stress
  • Load testing equipment for creep tests:
    • For determining the creep behavior and long-term strength of leather samples over defined test periods

These systems allow precise simulation of real-world stresses and are particularly important for applications in the automotive, furniture, and footwear industries.

  • Klimatisierte Schrumpfungsvorrichtung:
