Determination of the ring stiffness on pipes
When testing the ring stiffness, differently sized pipe sections are tested depending on the underlying standard and the application the pipes are designed for. The pipes are used for example for the laying of drinking water as well as sewage pipes or irrigation and drainage systems. Since the pipes are subjected to high compression loads during installation, the determination of the mechanical properties is of central importance. This is done by testing the ring stiffness. The ring stiffness describes the resistance of a pipe against deformation by a perpendicular load. It is determined by measuring the load and deformation of the pipe at constant deformation speed according to DIN EN 9969.
In addition to ring stiffness, ring flexibility, minimum compressive strength and compression strength can also be determined.
