Testing system & equipment
The inspekt 400 kN universal testing machine is designed for tensile and bending tests on reinforcing steel. The system includes:
- Main test room for test loads up to 400 kN
- Lateral test room for test loads up to 200 kN
- 3-point bending device 250/100 according to DIN 488
- Hydraulic grips for secure clamping
- Optional protective housing for both test rooms
Importance of reinforcing steel testing
Reinforcing steel is used to reinforce concrete and is used when concrete has to withstand not only high compressive loads but also tensile and bending loads. Reliable testing ensures that reinforcing steel meets the structural requirements.
Test methods & applications
- Tensile tests in the main test room for:
- Flat and round specimens made of metal & reinforcing steel
- Shear tests on welded reinforcing steel meshes
- Bending test in the lateral test room with the 3-point bending device to DIN 488:
- Carrying out the reverse bending test to verify the bending capacity of reinforcing steel
- Specimen is bent at least 90° and then bent back at least 20°
- Requirement: No break or crack after the test
